WeMos D1 mini lithium battery shield

It is a Shield that you put directly on the WeMos D1 mini.

This model is designed for charging lithium batteries using constant current/constant voltage (CC/CV). It does not have overcurrent and short circuit protection, we do not recommend using it with a battery that does not have integrated protection.

Protection functions:

• Constant current and constant voltage control for charging the connected lithium battery,
• Discharge protection - protects the battery against discharge below 2.5V.
• Overvoltage protection - the module will safely charge the battery up to 4.2V,
• Charging (battery reconditioning) - if the voltage level of the connected battery is less than 2.9V, the module will charge with 130mA current until the battery voltage reaches 2.9V again, at which point the current increases from linear to the configured charging current.

Can be charged from microUSB cable or connection see picture below. The power supply must be able to provide 1A to properly charge the connected battery. Most modern phone/USB chargers can provide 1A or more (see the label on the charger). It is also necessary to use a USB cable that is made for at least 1A.

The module includes two indicator LEDs. Red LED indicates charging. A blue LED indicates a full charge.

The charging current can be configured externally via jumper J1.

The module consumes a very small amount of current (µA) when connected to a battery. It's a good idea to leave it connected to the battery for a longer period of time. However, if you do not plan to charge the battery for 4 months, we recommend disconnecting the module from the battery.

Remark:

• Before connecting the battery, check the polarity of the battery to be connected! Some batteries may have opposite wiring on the connector! If the module is re-polarized, it could be destroyed.
• This product is not a standalone functional unit and may require professional installation.
