Universal transmitter module for K, J, N, R, S, T, E and B thermocouples with SPI interface. Thanks to the MAX31856 chip, highly accurate measurement results are achieved. The MAX31856 performs cold end compensation and digitizes the signal from any type of thermocouple. The output data is formatted in degrees Celsius. This transmitter has a temperature resolution of 0.0078125°C, allows measurements in the range of -210-1800°C (depending on the thermocouple type) and has a thermocouple voltage measurement accuracy of ±0.15%. Thermocouple inputs are protected against overvoltage up to ±45V. The lookup table (LUT) stores linearity correction data for several thermocouple types (K, J, N, R, S, T, E and B). 50Hz and 60Hz mains frequency filtering is included, as well as thermocouple fault detection. The SPI-compatible interface allows selection of the thermocouple type and setup of the conversion and fault detection processes.
