The module measures the capacity of a cell or battery with a voltage of 1-15V by measuring the time, discharge current and clamp voltage. The currently measured capacitance, current draw and terminal voltage are displayed on the display in the course of the measurement until the set value of the terminal voltage is reached. The module then disconnects the cell or battery from the load and displays its capacity. Possibility to correct the end voltage or calibrate the measured voltage and discharge current.

Instructions:

• Connect the measured cell or battery, the discharge resistor and then the module power supply (micro USB). The display shows the battery terminal voltage.
• Use the + and - buttons to adjust the final trip voltage when the module disconnects the load from the battery. For Li-Ion or LiPol cells set 2.7V (default 2.5V), or multiples of this voltage, for 12V lead acid battery 10.8V (default 9V) . Confirm with the OK button.
• The measured capacitance is now read and the current draw and clamp voltage values are also displayed. When the end voltage is reached, the battery is disconnected from the load and the measured capacity flashes on the display. Pressing OK displays the capacity permanently and pressing OK again resets the module and makes it ready for further measurements.
• The discharge resistance is determined with respect to the rated voltage and capacity of the battery being measured. For Li-Ion 18650 cell is suitable resistance 3.6-7.5Ω (discharge current 0.5-1A), for 12V lead acid battery with capacity 10-40Ah resistance 4-5Ω (discharge current 3A). However, the exact size of the resistance does not affect the correct measurement of the module, it only affects the operating conditions during discharge.

Error messages:

• ERR1: battery voltage is higher than 15V
• ERR2: battery voltage is lower than the preset end trip voltage
• ERR3: clamp voltage drops too fast (faulty battery or high discharge current)
• ERR4: Discharge current is higher than 3.1A - increase the discharge resistance value

Calibration:

if an accurate calibration voltage of 10.0000V or an accurate A-meter with a range of 2A is available, you can calibrate the module for more accurate measurements. Enter calibration mode by pressing all three buttons simultaneously.The test is then automatically started, the display can be corrected by pressing the OK button.
