Product detailed description

MPPT controller module for 9-24V solar systems with Li-Ion, Li-Pol and LiFePO4 batteries with max. charging current 5A. The MPPT controller contains an inverter that adjusts the V-A characteristic of the power source (solar panel, wind turbine, etc.) to the level that is most suitable for charging the connected battery. This achieves the lowest losses and the best use of energy from the source.

Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) of the solar cell ensures that the PV cell always puts out maximum power to fully utilize the sun's energy when the light intensity changes. In general, the MPPT function must be implemented with the switch mode of the DC-DC converter to maximize the output power of the output voltage and charging current. The input voltage can reach up to 28V, which is very suitable for applications with a large difference between the input voltage and the battery voltage.

Specifications:

  • Input voltage: 8-28V DC
  • Output voltage: 5-26V DC
    • Li-Ion and Li-Pol batteries: 8.4/12.6/16.8V
    • LiFePO4 battery: 7.2/10.8/14.4V
    • Pb battery: 12/24V
    • Ni-Cd, Ni-MH batteries: 7.2-14.4V
  • Charging method: automatic 3 stage
  • Efficiency: 93%
  • Own consumption: 3mA
  • Max. charging current: 5A
  • Protection: against over-polarity, short circuit, back current to panels. Battery overvoltage protection

Instructions:

  • Turn the "MPPT" trimmer all the way to the right (clockwise).
  • Turn the "Charging" trimmer all the way to the left (anti-clockwise).
  • Connect a solar panel (under normal lighting conditions) or a spare voltage source (18V for 12V systems).
  • Slowly turn the MPPT trimmer to the left (counterclockwise) until the voltage appears at the output and the LED flashes blue.
  • Connect the uncharged battery via the ammeter.
  • Turn the "Charge" trimmer to the right (clockwise) so that current flows into the battery and the LED starts flashing red.
  • Charging optimization: set the MPPT trimmer to the point where the highest current flows into the battery. Perform this step with the illuminated solar panel to be used in the system to ensure realistic working conditions.
  • Connect a fully charged battery: Turn the "Charge" trimmer to the left (counterclockwise) until the charging current is interrupted. This ensures protection against battery overcharging.

Included in delivery:

Notes:

  • This product is not a standalone functional unit and may require professional installation.
  • Product images are for illustration purposes only and may sometimes differ from the actual appearance of the item. However, this does not change its basic properties.
  • You have to be careful when connecting two cells in parallel. Both cells must have the same voltage. If one cell had a lower voltage, it would discharge to its lowest possible discharge limit. If possible, both cells should have the same voltage. In this case, the tension will be balanced. If the voltage of the two cells is very different, the cell may overheat or worse. When charging two cells in parallel to this module, the charging current of each cell is half of the total charging current of the module, i.e. each cell has the same voltage level.
