Product detailed description

Schottky diode (named after the German physicist W. Schottky) exploits the rectifying effects of semiconductor-metal contact. The semiconductor is usually silicon or GaAs type N, the metal is gold or aluminium. Schottky diodes are most commonly fabricated using planar epitaxial technology.

Compared to diodes with PN junction, the Schottky diode has a smaller voltage drop in the pass direction (Schottky diode 0.3 V, silicon diode with PN junction 0.7 V) and a higher current (up to hundreds of nA) in the stop direction.
