It is a low-cost plate used to measure the electrical activity of the heart. This electrical activity can be characterised as an ECG or electrocardiogram and the output as an analogue reading. ECGs can be very noisy, but with the AD8232 Single Lead Heart Rate Monitor you get a clear signal from PR and QT intervals.

The AD8232 is an integrated circuit for signal conditioning for ECG and other biopotential measurement applications. It is designed for extraction, amplification and filtering of small biopotential signals in the presence of strong interference, such as conditions caused by movement or positioning of distant electrodes.
